August's Featured Artist: Anna Puleo
The featured artist for the September show at the gallery is Anna Puleo. A long-time resident of the area, Anna has always admired various forms and types of art. She served as president of her high school art club, despite initially doubting her artistic abilities. Her first positive experience with art came through macro photography, which allowed her to tap into her visual and kinesthetic skills. In 2016, she took an acrylic painting class and immediately felt at ease with color mixing. Her teacher encouraged her to be "artistically courageous," and Anna learned to let go of limitations and explore her creativity.
Anna finds acrylics to be the most forgiving medium, but she has also expanded her skills to include watercolors and other styles. Since 2018, she has been involved in local theater productions and set design, which has taught her to appreciate the value of imperfection and illusion in multicolored designs. Embracing experimentation has become a core part of her artistic journey. As Anna says, "Try something new every once in a while..." – a philosophy reflected in her art.
