The Wurtsboro Art Alliance would like to highlight the art work and contributions of 7 year member Pat Sarsfield. Pat has been serving as an at-large member of the WAA board and general membership secretary for several years. She has helped to re-align communications from the website and gallery email to the new website being constructed by WAA secretary Suzi Andrews. Even though Pat resides part of the year In Queens, she is always stepping up to help the gallery function in any way she can with a super positive attitude and willingness to work with anyone on issues large or small. Her value is immeasurable.
Pat has been sketching since early childhood. As her Grandfather was an artist by trade, she was encouraged to draw. She graduated with a BA from Queens College in 1977. As a night student, her art classes centered on still life and figure drawing. After college, she moved to New Orleans. There she joined a local art group and did commission work for hotels and businesses.
Returning to New York in 1992, Pat and her husband bought her Grandmother’s old fishing camp at Yankee Lake. There, surrounded by woods and lakes, she began to
experiment with landscape painting.
Pat has worked in various mediums including pastel, oil, watercolor, charcoal and ink. She has shown her art work at a variety of galleries. In 2023 she won an award from the Jackson Heights Art Association in Queens.
Pat continues to find inspiration from the people and nature surrounding her, whether she is in Sullivan County or in Queens, NY. She travels with pastels and watercolors and, as a lifelong learner, she continues to attempt new things in her art and in her life. We are fortunate to once again have her energy and her art at the Wurtsboro Art Alliance Gallery.
These members tirelessly volunteer their time to the operation and promotion of the WAA.
